Happy Thanksgiving! My green bean casserole recipe.

I am not a fan of the traditional cream of mushroom soup/ french fried onion based green bean casserole. And as much as it breaks my dads heart I will continue to dislike it. I found this recipe years ago online and I have been making it every holiday ever since because it is always requested.
If you try it and don't like it don't hold me accountable. Everyone I have ever made this dish for rants and raves about it, including those who do like the traditional green bean casserole.

Best Ever Green Bean Casserole
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon white sugar
1/4 cup onion, diced
1 cup sour cream
3 (14.5 ounce) cans French style green beans, drained
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups crumbled buttery round crackers (Ritz)
3 tablespoon butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and saute until onions are cooked and translucent.

Stir in flour, salt and sugar until smooth, and cook for one minute.

Add sour cream and green beans, and stir to coat.

Transfer the mixture to a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish. Spread shredded cheese over the top.

In a small bowl, toss together cracker crumbs and remaining butter, and sprinkle over the cheese.

Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is golden and cheese is bubbly.

Enjoy!
